Yesterday just after noon officers with the Napanee OPP responded to a report of a man with a firearm at the TD Canada Trust bank on Dundas Street.
A witness outside the bank saw the man drop the firearm in the bank and called 911. The suspect left the bank on foot prior to police arrival. Officers located the male in downtown and he was arrested at scene. When officers searched the man he had in his possession a Winchester air pistol.
A 47-year-old Napanee man has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was held at the detachment and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee for a bail hearing today.
