Wednesdays throughout the month of September will see the iconic white wooden doors of the Allan Macpherson House open to the public for the first time in almost two years.
Lennox and Addington County Museum and Archives will be hosting tours of the house Sept. 15, Sept. 22 and 29 from 1-4 p.m.
“We’re overjoyed that we can be open because we have not been open since the summer of 2019,” said Amber Meyer, program coordinator for the L&A County Museum. She’s already hosted a handful of tours earlier this month. “We had people of all ages, little kids. It was great to have that opportunity to people in our community.”
Tours can be booked online by visiting https://www.lennox-addington.on.ca/museum-archives/macpherson-house. Admission to the historic home at 180 Elizabeth St. is $3 and includes access to the Museum, located just on the other side of the train tracks at 97 Thomas St. E.
Meyer says they look forward to hosting a full season of events next summer. For those unable to make it the house this month, L&A County is in the process of developing a digital tour that will be released in the coming months.
