Loyalist Township is inviting participants to enjoy the Loyalist Township Doors Open heritage event on June 18 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. as part of Loyalist Days and the 21st anniversary celebrations of Doors Open Ontario.
The Ontario Heritage Trust works with communities across the province, including Loyalist Township, to open the doors, gates, and courtyards of their unique and most fascinating cultural sites so that the public can explore the stories inside.
Residents and locals alike will have the opportunity to walk through the open doors of many of Loyalist Township’s beloved heritage and cultural sites across Amherstview, Amherst Island, Wilton, Bath, and Odessa.
“We are excited to welcome back members of the public to some of Loyalist Township’s prized heritage and cultural landmarks,” said Loyalist Township deputy mayor Jim Hegadorn. “Families are encouraged to attend and have a fun day learning local history.”
Both guided and self-guided walking tours will be available. Locations include Bath Museum, Fairfield-Gutzeit House, Amherstview Fire station, the dry stone walls of Amherst Island, Wilton Cheese Factory and more.
Participants will be able to pick up contest ballots at any of the participating historical sites for their chance to win a $100 prize if they visit at least five locations.
Attendees can also look forward to an end of day concert held by The Bath Canada Day Committee at Centennial Park from 2-4 p.m. Join in the fun and start celebrating Bath Canada Day early with music in the park performed by Fred Brown and Friends. The event is free for all to attend.
