Lots to do on Canada Day across the region

Fireworks, classic cars, a horse pull and a soapbox derby-there figures to be a little bit of everything going on this Saturday for Canada Day celebrations across Lennox and Addington.

Greater Napanee will kick off Canada’s birthday with its customary pancake breakfast, hosted by Greater Napanee Fire Department from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Strathcona Paper Centre. The Napanee Valley Cruisers Show N’ Shine will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the SPC soccer field with children’s activities running from 4-7 p.m with colouring sheets, craft kits and an obstacle course.

Musical entertainment will run from 4-10 p.m. featuring 7-Pierce Swing Band, School House Band, Switzerville Sound Machine, Deborah Lynn and DJ Digital Mike.

The night wraps up with fireworks at 10 p.m.
Bath has another action-packed day of patriotic fun lined up, starting with a pancake breakfast at the Bath Fire Hall from 7-11 a.m. at a cost of $10.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the park will be filled with family fun including a vendor’s market, kids zone and entertainment on the main stage. At 1 p.m. the red and white parade rolls through the village and at 3 p.m. the firefighters will set up a foam kid zone.

Tamworth gets their day started at 10 a.m. with registration for the Soap Box Derby, with the race getting underway at 11 a.m. Decorated bikes will line up for judging at 4 p.m., with the parade getting underway at 4:30 p.m.

At 5 p.m. the fun moves to the Tamworth Ball Park with Caitie’s Critters, Party Ponies, face painting, kids games and a classic car show. Live music gets underway at 5 p.m. with the Bullock Band.

At 8 p.m. free cupcakes will be passed around and the evening wraps up with a spectacular firework display by the Stone Mills Firefighters.

Amherst Island will be hosting a Canada Day Horse Pull from noon to 4 p.m. at the Agricultural Society Fairground, located at 5435 Front Road in Stella. Entry is $10; bring your own lawn chair.

Deseronto will be hosting its second annual Fun Fair from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 240 Main St. with live music, songs and stories with Steve from 2:30 to 4 p.m. with special appearances from Paw Patrol’s Chase, Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Peppa Pig. At dusk fireworks will be set off over the Bay of Quinte.
