The OPP is reminding local residents that, when it comes to leaving your vehicle unattended, you should ‘lock it or lose it.’
The police say that an unlocked car door or an open window is an invitation to thieves. Officers from the Napanee OPP recently responded to a call regarding a vehicle being entered in Napanee. Property was also taken from the unlocked vehicle.
The ‘lock it or lose it’ program is designed to prevent thefts from vehicles by educating drivers to always roll up their vehicles’ windows; keep valuables out of sight, lock their doors and pocket their keys.
The OPP say that the key to protecting your vehicle is in your hands and that you can keep yourself from becoming an easy target by properly securing your vehicle.
Assault Charge
A local woman is facing assault an assault after an incident on Wednesday.
The local detachment reports that, at 7:31 p.m., Napanee OPP officers were dispatched to a residence in Napanee in response to a call.
A 57 year-old Napanee woman was arrested for assault with a weapon. The woman appeared on Thursday for a bail hearing in provincial court in Napanee.
Truck Stolen
Napanee OPP is currently investigating the theft of a pick-up truck from Deseronto Road in Napanee.
According to the OPP, the truck was stolen sometime overnight between Wednesday and Thursday. The vehicle is a 2002 Red Chevrolet Silverado. The truck has an Ontario licence plate of 5749FH.
