Napanee’s Leroy Blugh is among the first class to be inducted into the Football Ontario Hall of Fame in the players category.
Blugh suited up for the NDSS Golden Hawks football team before going on to be a standout at Bishop’s University, becoming the only three time winner of the most outstanding defensive player of the year in the OQIFC.
He would go on to play 15 years in the Canadian Football League as a DE/LB for the Toronto Argos and Edmonton Eskimos, winning the Grey Cup with Edmonton and a Canadian Football League Most Outstanding Canadian Award. After his playing days were over he would go on to be the head coach at Bishops and eventually make his way back to the CFL where he was an assistant with Edmonton and the Ottawa Redblacks, winning another Grey Cup. He’s spent the last two seasons as defensive line coach with Queen’s University.
Blugh has been inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and now is part of the Football Ontario Hall of Fame Class of 2023.
