Late rally attempt not enough as U18 Stars fall shot at OMHA provincials

The Napanee Under 18 Stars fell short in the 12 team OMHA provincial Championships in Barrie.

In a must win situation facing Mitchell, the boys gave up two goals in the first. Gavin Brooks would get one back, assisted by Luc Amat. The team battled back hard in the third, but gave up a goal at the buzzer to fall 3-1 and end their quest for the title.

On Friday, they defeated Niagara-On-The-Lake 4-1 in a penalty filled contest with the locals registering 46 minutes. They had a solid offense however, with goals from Dylan Kemp, Ethan Boutilier, and Jack Osborne with two tallies, in a game in which they never trailed. Sam Rickard got the nod in net. Friday night, facing South Muskoka, they fell behind by two in the first half of the game before Jayden Holden scored, with an assist to Boutilier. South Muskoka would add two more in the third to win 4-1. Aiden Vallier took the loss in net. South Muskoka would go on to win the Championship 5-4 in double overtime facing Dorchester.
