Hastings-Lennox Addington MPP Daryl Kramp had an early holiday gift for Lennox and Addington County General Hospital on Dec. 20, announcing it will receive $992,148 to replace boilers within the hospital.

LACGH CEO Wayne Coveyduck was joined by Kramp when the announcement was made. The funds will be used to replace boilers that were installed when the hospital was built in 1966.

The funds come from the government’s investment of $175 million this year through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund to support hospitals across Ontario.

Earlier in the day Kramp announced Kingston Health Sciences Centre would be getting $5.7 million for multiple infrastructure improvements.

“These investments will help ensure patients in Kingston and Napanee and the broader areas they serve can receive the care they need in a safe and comfortable setting,” said Kramp. “Well-functioning infrastructure, including secure doors and heating and air conditioning systems make the world of difference to a patient’s experience and good health. This funding will help ensure our hospitals are able to make the needed upgrades and improvements, so patients and families have access to the reliable, quality care they expect and deserve.”

“Ontario has a plan to build a connected and sustainable public health care system centred around the needs of patients, including investing $27 billion over 10 years in hospital infrastructure projects,” added Kramp. “Maintaining hospital infrastructure is one more example of how we are working towards ensuring Ontarians have the health care services they can depend on while building the capacity we need to end hallway health care.”
