Lennox Addington County General Hospital’s Supportive Living facility officially welcomed its first residents this week.
Located within the former LENADCO building adjacent to the main hospital, the newly constructed complex contains 19 one-bedroom suites. The common are fully furnished. All units are ground level and are fully accessible with personal outside patios for most units. Rental costs range from $1,450 per month for a studio, $1,550 per month for a one bedroom and $1,700 for a large one-bedroom.
According to LACGH’s website, resident supports within the Supportive Living facility will take a variety of forms and vary in intensity based on people’s unique needs. The space is designed for seniors with complex needs who meet pre-established criteria.
“We’re currently working with the Home and Community care to get assessments from those out in the community,” says Hayley Kelderman, manager of LACGH’s Supportive Living. “Then we work with those seniors and bring them into the area with their families and see if this is a place that they will be wanting to stay.” For people who think that they meet the residence criteria, there will be an opportunity to tour the space. Information about the tours will be posted on the Hospital’s website.
Like any good home, one of Supportive Living’s best features is its location. In most cases, seniors won’t even have to leave the building to have access to a wide assortment of specialty care. Being in the heart of the former LENADCO building places it right at the centre of Greater Napanee’s own health hub.
“We’re so lucky to be in this area with so many other facilities like doctor’s offices, pharmacies, Life Labs, physiotherapy clinics around us,” added Kelderman. And of course, the hospital is right next door.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to mark the unofficial opening on March 11 with the first tenant moving in the following Tuesday.
