For the first time in 24 years, there will be no Lennox and Addington County General Hospital Foundation Benefit Golf Tournament in June.

Event organizer Mike Airhart announced on April 14 the annual tournament held at the Napanee Golf and Country Club would be postponed due to COVID-19.

“In the best interest of everyone involved with the tournament, the difficult decision was made to cancel,” Airhart wrote in a letter. “At this time we need to think of keeping our families, friends and employees safe-our community safe.”

He did go on to note they plan to hold the tournament in 2021.

Last year’s tournament, which was played under rainy conditions for the first time in the tournament’s 23 year history, raised $32,939 for the hospital.

Donations can still be made to the foundation by visiting http://web.lacgh.napanee.on.ca/waystogive.
