Lennox and Addington Seniors Outreach Services and Lennox and Addington County Library Services are working together to ensure seniors in Napanee are never short of books to read.

The two organizations provide a book delivery service to Napanee residents who aren’t able to easily get out of the house to visit the library. Library staff assemble books for clients to read, while L&A SOS volunteers deliver those books to the client’s door. “Reading materials are also picked up and returned to the library,” said Kim Sledz of L&A SOS.

The deliveries take place on Thursdays.

And it’s not just books that are available through the home delivery service: DVDs and audiobooks can also be borrowed through the library and delivered to the client.

L&A SOS says that it has seen a decline in usage of the service, which is used primarily by those living in long-term care facilities or retirement homes, and they’re hoping a public reminder prods those who might be interested in the service to give it a try.

Those interested in participating in the program should contact L&A SOS at 613-354-6668.
