Over the May long weekend, officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP charged three drivers with impaired driving, with a fourth impaired driver still investigation.
On May 20, 2023, at approximately 4:53 p.m., L&A OPP were dispatched to a call for service regarding a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 8. Initial information received was that there was a single motor vehicle that had crashed into a tree in front of a residence on County Road 8. Officers determined that the lone driver of the reported vehicle was showing signs of impairment and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered. The driver was subsequently arrested.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP charged a 31-year-old of Deseronto with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 13, 2023. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
On May 21, 2023, at approximately 8 p.m., L&A OPP were dispatched to a call for service regarding a collision with a car and motor bike on Belleville Road and Hwy 49. The driver of the motor bike sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Officers observed that the driver of the motor bike was showing signs of impairment. The motor bike driver has not yet been charged as the collision is still under investigation.
On May 21, 2023, at approximately 9 p.m., L&A OPP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that ran a red light at Centre Street and Jim Kimmett Boulevard in Greater Napanee. Officers determined that the lone driver of the vehicle was showing signs of impairment and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered. The driver was subsequently arrested.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 40-year-old of Deseronto with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 13, 2023. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
On May 22, 2023, at approximately 8:30 p.m., L&A OPP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was travelling 141 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone Bath Road in Loyalist Township. Officers determined that the lone driver of the vehicle was showing signs of impairment and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered. The driver was subsequently arrested.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 27-year-old of Loyalist Township with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 13, 2023. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
