L&A OPP kept busy over the holidays with multiple traffic offences

On Dec. 24 at approximately 7 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Hwy 401 Westbound near Shannonville.

Police subsequently stopped the vehicle and determined that the driver was showing signs of impairment.  The driver was uncooperative and refused to provide a sample of breath for analysis in the Approved Screening Device (ASD).

As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have charged Cindy a 33-year-old of Hannon, Ontario with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Stunt driving

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on January 26, 2021. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

-On Dec. 27 at approximately 10:45 a.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 401 Westbound near Marysville, Ontario.

Police stopped the vehicle and determined that the driver was showing signs of impairment. The driver was uncooperative and refused to provide a sample of breath for analysis in the Approved Screening Device (ASD).  The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for processing.

As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have charged a 38-year-old of Ottawa with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking -cocaine
  • Have care or control of vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Speeding

-On Dec. 29 at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver.

Police located and stopped the vehicle on County Road 41 near Goodyear Road in Greater Napanee. Police determined the driver was showing signs of impairment and administered an Approved Screening Device (ASD).  The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for processing.

As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have charged a 34-year-old of Stone Mills Township with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on March 2, 2021. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

-On Dec. 24 at approximately 12:25 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program on County Road 5 at the Palace Road off ramp of the 401 in Greater Napanee, Ontario

A driver of a vehicle in the RIDE program was showing signs of alcohol consumption. As part of the investigation an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

L&A County OPP have charged a 35-year-old of Greater Napanee with

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on March 2, 2021. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
