L&A OPP Festive RIDE nets first arrest of the season

Lennox and Addington County OPP kicked off their Festive RIDE (Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere) program with an arrest on Nov. 16.

Just after 7:30 p.m. officers were set up at County Rd 41 at County Road 4 in Stone Mills Township.

A driver of a vehicle in the RIDE program was showing signs of alcohol consumption. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was administered and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

 L&A County OPP have charged a 64-year-old Tamworth man with operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol limit above the legal limit. 

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Dec. 3. The accused persons licence was suspended and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead this holiday season and have a safe ride home following any parties or get togethers.
