Officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP charged two drivers with impaired driving.
On Jan. 26, shortly before 4 p.m., L&A OPP were called to a vehicle collision at Bridge Street and Deseronto Road, in Greater Napanee. The suspect vehicle side swiped a vehicle and fled the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was able to follow the suspect vehicle to a residence where it missed the driveway and drove across the grass and into the garage. Police arrived on scene and located the driver of the suspect vehicle. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported back to the detachment for further testing. There were no injuries sustained during the collision, just damage to both vehicles.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Terry Walters, age 67, of Napanee, with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Feb. 13, 2024. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
-On Jan. 27, shortly before 5 p.m., L&A OPP received a call for a single motor vehicle collision at County Road 7 and County Road 2, in Loyalist Township. The vehicle was in the ditch with two people walking around it. Police arrived on scene and spoke to the driver of the vehicle. The driver was arrested and brought back to the police detachment for further testing.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged James Silver, age 56, of Bath, with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
