L&A County receives $761,841 in provincial infrastructure funding

The provincial government announced a series of infrastructure grants on Wednesday, with Hastings-Lennox and Addington receiving a combined $6.9 million across 21 municipalities.

L&A County will receive $761,841 while Greater Napanee receives $667,666.

Loyalist Township was granted $752,230, Stone Mills receives $199,036, the Township of Tyendinaga gets $61,767, Deseronto receives $50,000 while Addington Highlands receives $54,461.

“This funding will help build and repair roads, bridges, water and wastewater infrastructure in our community,” said Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP Daryl Kramp. “It will both create jobs and ensure we are ready for the resumption of a busy local economy.”

The funding is a part of Ontario’s approximately $200 million commitment to 424 communities to help them address their core infrastructure projects and asset management planning needs in 2021 and is based on population with a minimum amount per municipality of $50,000.

“By investing in infrastructure projects across the province, we are strengthening and building communities,” said Laurie Scott, Ontario’s minister of infrastructure. “This is part of our ongoing commitment to support small, rural and northern municipalities across Ontario, providing stable funding needed to build long-term economic resilience.”
