Everyone loves a good story, and there are lots of them to share here in Lennox & Addington.
The L&A County Museum & Archives in Napanee is calling on people to share their best stories relating to the county to their website or social media outlets.
Dubbed the ‘L&A Stories’ project, the hope is the public will conjure up and share some long lost memories about life in Lennox & Addington.
Funny, heart-warming, nostalgic, historic – story submissions of all types are encouraged. It can be something that their grandparents did on the farm, that time their team won the championship, the downtown store where they used to shop.
Memories passed down from generation to generation are a perfect fit for the project, as are stories from the recent past. Stories submitted will be shared on the County website and on social media. Photo submissions that help tell the story are gladly accepted as well.
An official launch of the event will be scheduled at the museum when it’s deemed safe to do so.
Some of the stories received are expected to generate online buzz.
“The museum recently posted a team photo on their Facebook page of the 1974-75 Napanee Juveniles hockey team that travelled to Sweden to play a series of games,” said Stephen Paul, director of community and development services. “The social interaction from the photo was outstanding, with family members commenting and sharing the image, as well as telling personal stories of their own. We think that the ‘L&A Stories’ project will generate similar interactions.”
In addition to listening to the stories at the yet to be rescheduled event, the public can bring printed personal photos (a maximum of 3 per person) that they wish to have digitally preserved. A copy of the photo will be emailed to them for their own records.
