The time to tee off and take a swing at capturing the L&A Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament’s coveted trophy is nearly here.

Teams of four or individual golfers have until July 19 to register for the event, which takes place July 24 at the Napanee Golf and Country Club. The entry fee is $135 plus HST per player and includes 18 holes, a cart, a dinner and the use of one mulligan-plus prizes for all participants.

“It helps everybody build and grow their business together,” said L&A Chamber of Commerce business manager Karen Smith. “Everybody helps everybody out and it brings the community together as well.”

At stake is not only a chance to have one’s name added to the trophy, but also the privilege of selecting which charity will receive 50 per cent of the proceeds from the tournament. The winning team can select from a list of local charities. Last year saw the Autism Network of Lennox and Addington County receive $2,900.

Prizes will also be awarded for the longest drive by a male and female as well as to the most honest team. Anyone who hits a hole-in-one on the second hole will score $10,000, courtesy of MyFM.

The tournament is just another way the Chamber looks to expand its reach, going beyond its former boundary of Napanee and now covering the entire county.

“We’ve got member from the other townships as well,” said Smith. “We’ve got members onboard from Kaladar and Addington Highlands, so it gives more businesses more networking in a broader spectrum than just Napanee itself.”

To register a team call 613-354-6601 or email businessmanager@l-achamber.ca. Sponsorship and prize donation opportunities are available as well.

The tournament will get underway at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start.
