L&A Archives calls on residents to share their story through photos for digital project

Lennox and Addington Museum and Archives.

Lennox and Addington’s Museum and Archives is calling on residents to share their story through photographs for a new digitization project.

They’ll be accepting photos throughout the month. Those that take part will walk away with free prints of their scanned photographs to share so the original copies stay safe for a long time.

Residents are encouraged to bring one to five photographs of anything or anyone in Lennox and Addington County to the Archives. Photographs can be of growing up here, ancestors from a century ago, a business or even a family participating in a COVID-19 activity while stuck at home. Anything goes as long as there’s a story behind it.

How it works: people bring 1-5 photographs of any size and colour to the Archives. Staff scan your photographs, participants tell them the story behind them. They then walk away with 8×10 colour prints of their photographs. Scanned images become part of the permanent digital collection at the Archives of Lennox and Addington to be shared with the community

Stop by the Museum of Lennox & Addington, located at 97 Thomas Street East in Napanee, Monday – Friday from 10am – 5pm until April 30. Note that the archives will be open on Saturday, April 30 from 10-5 for this project. Call 613-354-3027 for more information or visit www.CountyMuseum.ca.
