KFLA announces 21 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, active case count at 102

KFLA Public health reported 21 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, leaving the active case count at 102 cases.

On Sunday there was nine new cases: A male, age 10-19, close contact, two males in their 20s, under investigation, two males in their 20s, close contact, a male in his 40s, under investigation, a female in her 20s, under investigation, a female in her 30s, under investigation, a female in her 70s, under investigation

Thirteen cases were listed as recovered on Sunday.

Saturday saw 13 new cases reported with eight recoveries.

As of Sunday evening there are three people listed as requiring a stay in hospital due to COVID-19, two are in the ICU.

Since the start of the pandemic this region has seen 486 cases with no deaths. The region is scheduled to move from yellow community status to orange as of midnight tonight. However, according to an unconfirmed report by Global News, the Ontario government is planning to announce a 28-day lockdown for most of the province starting on Dec. 24. Northern regions of the province would see a two-week lockdown, according to the report. The unconfirmed report also says the plan says elementary school students would not return to classes as scheduled, instead moving to virtual learning before returning to class on Jan. 11.Official confirmation is expected to come from the premier on Monday afternoon.
