Needing a win for a shot to clinch the final playoff seed heading into Monday’s regular season finale, the NDSS Golden Hawks junior boys soccer team drew a tough opponent in the undefeated KCVI Blues.

Home field advantage wasn’t enough to spur the Hawks, who fell 10-2 in a game played under a steady rain and soggy field conditions. The loss dropped the Hawks to 2-6 on the season, leaving them just outside the playoff picture. The Marie-Rivier Dragons snagged the eighth spot with a 3-5 record. Their prize in a first round matchup with the 8-0 Blues in the KASSAA quarter-finals.

NDSS’ junior girls soccer team closed out the regular season with a 5-0 loss to Regi, but still qualified for the playoffs on the strength of their 3-4-1 record. They’ll enter tomorrow’s match as the seventh seed, taking on the Frontenac Falcons. A win would push them through to the semifinals, which will take place on May 22.

NDSS’ senior girls soccer team was also shutout by Regi in their season finale, losing 7-0. They will look to rebound in Wednesday’s quarter-finals, which is against the same Regi team. Regi enters as the top seed after going 8-0 while the Hawks finished in eighth with a 1-6-1 mark.

On the rugby pitch the Golden Hawks girls team finished the regular season with a 22-10 win over Regi to lock down the third seed. Their third place finish earns them a buy into the semifinals, which will take place May 21.

NDSS’ junior boys clipped Frontenac 7-5 in their season finale to finish with a 2-2 record, placing them third. They’ll take on La Salle in the semifinals on the road on May 22.

KASSAA’s baseball season is yet to get underway as persistent rain continues to push back the start date. NDSS was scheduled to play their first game on Monday, but it was postponed.
