With their May 12 season opener fast approaching, the Napanee Junior Hawks youth tackle football team is seeking a few more players to round out their roster.

Currently there are 23 players registered and teams in the Quinte Skyhawks Minor Football League need 22 to play. The Jr. Hawks coaching staff is hoping to add a few more players to help keep players fresh, particularly in the summer heat.

The league is open to all athletes in Grades 6, 7 and 8 (born 2009-11), no prior football experience is necessary. The league is designed to introduce players to the sport of tackle football and prepare them for the high school football season.

The Jr. Haws practice twice weekly at Napanee District Secondary School and draw players from the Napanee, Deseronto and Loyalist Township areas. To register, contact Dave McRae at 613-453-3536 or Dmcrae@Maltbycentre.ca or search NDSS Football 2023 on Facebook.

Teams in the league include the Belleville East Defenders, Belleville West Chargers, Bancroft T-Hawks, Trent Hills Titans, Quinte West Devils and Napanee.

Weekly games will be played at Mary Ann Sills Turf in Belleville, Bayside Secondary, North Hastings, Campbellford District High School and NDSS with the season-ending championship game set for June 24. The cost is $275 for the season and the team provides all equipment.
