The Town of Greater Napanee experienced a cybersecurity incident on Jan. 11, 2024, which temporarily impacted its network. Upon discovering the incident, the Town immediately engaged a team of third-party experts, including a forensic firm and external breach counsel to assist with containment, remediation and to conduct an investigation. The Town has also reported the incident to law enforcement.
While the forensic investigation is still ongoing, municipal services have been almost fully restored.
It was determined that normal payments for services could resume on Jan. 22.
