Inmate charged with murder of fellow inmate at Millhaven Institution

An inmate at Bath’s Millhaven Institution has been charged with murder.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad, under direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch charged the inmate.

Members of the Penitentiary Squad responded at approximately 3 a.m. on Sept 23 after an individual was transported to hospital from Millhaven Institution. The individual has since died from injuries he suffered in an assault.

The deceased has been identified as Dakota Laine Ryder, age 25, who had been incarcerated at the facility.

As a result of the investigation, the Penitentiary Squad, in conjunction with the Correctional Service of Canada, has arrested and charged Imo Atiba Lewis, age 37, with first degree murder.
