Hockey won’t be the only attraction to the Strathcona Paper Centre this Saturday as the Town of Greater Napanee will be hosting its annual Indoor Hometown Holiday Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Held inside the Lafarge Banquet Hall at the SPC, the event is an extension of the town’s popular Homegrown Market, which runs throughout the summer.

“We’ll be hosting just over 40 vendors, selling all things handmade and homegrown,” says Lyndsay Tee, economic development coordinator with Greater Napanee. “Then there’s some vendors that people have gotten to know throughout the summer months at the Hometown Market and then some additional ones as well.”

Tee says the town specifically picks the same weekend as NDMHA’s annual Andy McGarvey Memorial Tournament, which will be running throughout the weekend. The minor hockey tournament draws teams from across the province and by extension, their friends and family.

“It’s great because the facility is always busy and full with people coming in for the tournament so it gives the tournament goers something to do,” said Tee. “Then we know there’s numerous other craft shows in the area the same day so we’re trying to connect with those craft sales and create a circuit for people to travel around and check them all out.”

For those who like to avoid the holiday rush, it’s a chance to get a bit of an early start on gifts and decorations. Tee says many of the vendors are also willing to take custom orders and can have items ready ahead of next month’s holidays.

“It’s a great spot to start your Christmas list if you’ve got someone special or hard to shop for with lots of unique items,” said Tee.

Admission to the event is free.
