Impaired driver hits mailbox, drives through roundabout

Officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP have charged a driver with impaired driving after hitting a mailbox and driving through a roundabout.

On Oct. 1 at approximately 7:30 p.m., L&A OPP officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver who previously had hit a mailbox and had now just driven through the roundabout at County Road 4 and County Road 2. The vehicle had struck signs and shrubs and was parked on the shoulder of County Road 4. Officers located the vehicle still at the scene. The lone male driver of the vehicle was uninjured and showing signs of impairment. The driver was subsequently arrested.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged a 42-year-old of Oakville, Ontario, with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Fail to remain

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Oct. 24, 2023. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
