On Dec. 9, 2020 at approximately 6 a.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a two vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 eastbound, east of Highway 37 near Belleville.
Investigation revealed that a tractor trailer was travelling eastbound when it lost control and collided with a second tractor trailer later coming to rest in the North Ditch. The second tractor trailer jack knifed and came to rest on both lanes of the 401 just east of Hwy 37. No one was injured as a result of the multi vehicle collision. The road was closed for a short period of time and has since reopened. One tractor trailer remains in the ditch and will be removed when conditions allow.
