Hwy 401 eastbound reduced to one lane between Deseronto Road and County Rd 41 Thursday night starting at 7 p.m.

A tractor trailer left the road on Hwy 401 near mile marker 572 early Thursday morning. There were no injuries but the highway will be reduced to one lane starting at 7 p.m. tonight while crews work to retrieve the vehicle.

At approximately 5 a.m. on Aug. 12, officers from the Lennox & Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a transport truck collision on Hwy 401 in Greater Napanee.

An eastbound transport truck, driven by a 58 year-old Kingston resident, left the roadway and entered the ditch near mile marker #572. The truck remained upright, but became mired in a swampy area in the north ditch at the fence line. It will require a heavy equipment to extract it from the ditch.

While nobody was injured in the crash, the driver of the transport truck was charged with Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

In order to facilitate the recovery of the truck and its cargo the eastbound driving lane of the 401 between Deseronto Road and County Rd #41 will be closed beginning at 7 p.m. on August 12. It’s estimated that the recovery will take between 6 and 8 hours to complete.
