Napanee broke out the aluminum lumber to open the U20 Canadian Fast Pitch Championships, winning 7-0 over the Haldimand Heat at the Napanee Fairgrounds.

The host Express put up a pair of runs in the first and added two more when Connor Brooks connected on a deep drive over the centerfield fence.

Brooks cooled off the Heat from the pitcher’s circle as well, picking up the win.

Opening ceremonies for the tournament will take place this evening at 7 p.m. Following that, the Express will be back on the field to take on Newfoundland at 7:30 p.m.
