Horgan rink officially eliminated from Olympic qualifier playoffs

Scott Chadwick.

A 10-1 loss to Brad Gushue has officially taken Team Horgan out of the running at the Tim Horton’s Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in Saskatoon.

After falling behind 2-0 after one, Team Horgan responded with a point in the second end. The two sides traded zeros over the next two ends before Newfoundland’s Gushue got in a groove and picked up two points each in the fifth and sixth and added three more in the seventh. Horgan conceded after the eighth.

Napanee’s Scott Chadwick serves as lead for the Kingston-based rink.

Their hope of qualifying for the Olympics may be dashed but the team will still look to finish strong over their final two round robin games tomorrow. They’ll take on Saskatchewan’s Matt Dunstone at 10 a.m. tomorrow and then finish witch a match against Brad Jacobs at 3 p.m.
