Napanee’s Scott Chadwick and his team Horgan’s teammates fell into an early hole at the Ontario Tankard and were never able to fully recover.

The Kingston based rink dropped its first two matches of the tournament in Port Elgin, losing 7-4 to Jason Camm and 8-5 to Sam Mooibroek on Thursday.

That meant it was win or go home the rest of the way for Team Horgan. They responded in their next game, defeating Mark Kean 5-3 and Dylan Niepage on Friday.

That kept the team alive until Saturday with a chance at the playoffs still intact. Facing off against Mooibroek again, the two teams battled to an extra end with Mooibroek holding on for a 5-4 win.

In the finals Scott Howard would go on to defeat John Epping 5-3 to earn the right to represent Ontario at the Brier.
