HOPKINS, Mildred

August 6, 1924 – July 30, 2023

Mildred Elizabeth (Allen) Hopkins passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Fairmount Home in Kingston in her 99th year. She was the beloved wife of John Patrick Hopkins (deceased in 1997). She is survived by her niece Lorrie (Hopkins) Woodcock whom Mildred entrusted to “watch over her” as she aged. She leaves behind several other nieces and nephews especially Damien-the youngest son of her beloved brother Bobby. Mildred was the daughter of Mildred Linda Allen and the oldest of 4 children. She is predeceased by her brothers Fred, Roland and Robert (Bobby). Mildred was born on August 6, 1924. She grew up in Scarborough living at home until she married John in 1973. After retirements, Mildred and John enjoyed travelling. She was always an organized and independent woman and, after John’s death, continued on with many bus trips and was always up for a good time. She will be missed by many, especially Nancy Dewer her friend and caregiver for many years and her apt. friends Sandra, Bob and Lynn. We thank Nancy and the devoted and compassionate staff at Fairmount Home for meeting Mildred’s needs over the past year. The family will receive friends at the Hannah Funeral Home, in Tamworth on Saturday, August 5 from 10 a.m., followed by Service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Assumption Cemetery then Reception in the funeral home. Memorial donations made to the Assumption Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
