History Looms Large During Tamworth’s 175th Anniversary

Rosie Hyde demonstrates how to operate a loom as part of Tamworth’s 175th anniversary celebrations, held along the village’s Main Street on Saturday. She was busy working on replicating the work of Richard Coulter, who emigrated from Ireland and settled in Tamworth in 1858. He wove a similar blanket to the one seen here in 1870. Along with historical displays, the event featured live music, with Great Big Sea founder Séan McCann headlining the entertainment. Photo by Adam Prudhomme.
