NDSS triple and long jumper Jessie Brunner capped her season with a pair of eight place finishes in triple jump and long jump at the OFSAA Track and Field Championship, held last week in Guelph.

Brunner qualified for OFSSAA in style at EOSSAA in Belleville earlier this month, setting a new record in the triple jump with a mark of 11.33. That distance broke the previous juniors girls’ record by five cm. She also captured gold in the long jump with a distance of 5.21 metres.

-Weather cut short the NDSS Golden Hawks’ baseball team’s playoff run, as heavy rain called for the cancellation of the KASSAA playoffs. Napanee was gearing up for the quarter-finals on Thursday before the city of Kingston determined the fields were unfit to play.

-Napanee’s Josh Whalen hit 11 of 18 greens in his second round at the RBC Canadian Open last week, finishing at 13 over for the tournament. This was Whalen’s first appearance at the Canadian Open. Though not the finish he was looking for, Whalen can use the experience as a learning opportunity.

-Napanee’s Britt Benn and the Canada Sevens national team will look to punch their Olympic ticket this weekend as they wrap up the HSBC World Series in Biarritz, France. Canada enters the tournament third in the season standings, needing at least a fourth place finish to qualify for the 2020 Olympic games.
