The Town of Greater Napanee Council will be lifting its local State of Emergency effective Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
The State of Emergency was re-enacted in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic on October 14, 2020. While no new health and safety regulations will be implemented by the Town once the State of Emergency has been lifted, the public must continue to abide by health and safety rules and regulations currently issued by KFL&A Public Health, as well as all Orders implemented by the Province of Ontario to continue to contain the spread of COVID-19. Residents are reminded to continue to practice physical distancing, maintaining a 2 metre (6 feet) distance from others and wear a face covering in all public businesses or facilities.
Mayor Marg Isbester provided the following statement: “I am pleased that Council was able to lift this State of Emergency. As the Town continues with our recovery efforts in a “new normal”, Council is very grateful for the cooperation and support received from its citizens. It has not been easy, but we should be encouraged that our efforts were effective and hopeful that our diligence continues to move our community forward.”
