Candy hunters can get an early start on Halloween as both Greater Napanee and Loyalist will once again be hosting a Trunk-or-Treat event on Oct. 29.

Loyalist’s event will take place from 1-4 p.m.at the Odessa Fairgrounds (231 Main St.), with fun games, crafts and a costume contest taking place inside the palace.

Napanee’s will be set up in the parking lot of the Strathcona Paper Centre, running from 1-3 p.m.

Anyone in the public, private families, organizations, community groups are invited to bring a trunk as part of their vehicle or a tent and table, a station of some sort to hand out candy to local kids prior to Halloween,” explained Bethany Chadwick, community events administrator.

Keeping with the fall theme, Greater Napanee has also launched a a ‘where is the pumpkin’ contest, running now through Oct. 29.

Participants can find a clue every Friday on the Town of Greater Napanee’s Facebook page to locate a hidden pumpkin somewhere throughout the township. Once they figure out the location, they can go there and take a picture with it and submit the photo to Bchadwick@GreaterNapanee.com for a chance to win a Halloween themed prize package at the end of the content.

Shifting to another upcoming holiday, the town is now accepting registration for the Indoor Holiday Market, which will take place Nov. 18 at the SPC from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Vendors selling homemade or home grown items are welcome, the cost to register is $15 and can be done so by emailing Bchadwick@GreaterNapanee.com or by calling 613-776-1127.

Meanwhile registration is also now open for the Parade of Lights, which will take place Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m.

Register through the Events and Festivals page on the town’s website, www.GreaterNapanee.com by Dec. 1. The registration fee is a donation of a non-perishable food item for the Salvation Army.

This year’s parade will look a bit different than in year’s past, as the Big Bright Lights will no longer be hung in the downtown core, instead the display is shifting to Springside and Conservation Parks.
