The Town of Greater Napanee is investigating the potential of two buildings within the community for the purpose of improving customer service and convenience for residents.
The two buildings under consideration are an office building located at 99 Advance Ave and Greater Napanee’s Town Hall located at 124 John St. 99 Advance Ave
Exploratory Phase for a New Municipal Office Building: In its continuing effort to improve its customer service to residents and provide a one-stop option to the business community, the Town of Greater Napanee is having exploratory discussions with Family and Children Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (FCSFL&A) regarding the acquisition of FCSFL&A’s office building at 99 Advance Avenue. The purpose of the Town obtaining this building would be to serve as a new centralized office in which all municipal departments work and operate out of. Having all municipal staff in one building will create a “functional workspace which will allow for departmental efficiencies and create an atmosphere for new employee attraction,” says Town of Greater Napanee’s CAO, John Pinsent. In-person services would be available in one location instead of spreading out across the Town.
Town Hall (124 John St) – Exploratory Phase as a Proposed New Location for the Napanee Library: To reduce and modernize its building inventory, the Town is continuing with a previously announced partnership with the County of Lennox and Addington to expand the Town Hall by building a new library and cultural hub in the downtown core. Just as the Gibbard District and L&A Mutual Insurance developments have reinvigorated ideas regarding the riverfront, a new library and a renovated Town Hall can be the catalyst to restore the Market Square to its traditional role as the place for people to socialize and share common goals with their community. Conversations will continue as the Town makes plans for a full-service operations centre and an historic Town Hall with an accessible Council Chambers. Residents are advised that both these prospects are still being considered, and nothing as been finalized to-date.
