Golden Hawks gymnastic shine at NDSS Invitational meet

High school gymnasts from across the region met at the Greater Napanee Gymnastics Club last Wednesday as the NDSS Golden Hawks held their annual Invitational.

NDSS’ Bailey Duncan captured the top spot in the Level 4 division, earning first on beam and second on the floor, bars and vault. She was the lone Level 4 representative from NDSS.

In Level 5 the NDSS ladies took three of the top four spots.

Taylor Thompson took second overall, earning first on vault, second on the floor, third on bars and fifth on the beam.

Brenna Duncan claimed the third overall spot, taking second on bars and beam and fourth in both the vault and floor routine.

Kylie Mosgrove earned fourth overall, taking third in both the floor and beam, fourth on bars and fifth on the vault.

Napanee’s Natalie Post captured second overall in the Level 6 division. She had the top spot in the vault and floor and was second on beam and bars.

A pair of Golden Hawks participated in Level 1, with Shayla DeGraaf taking the top spot in the vault. She was ninth on bars and 10th on the beam.

Alora Laton was fourth on bars, seventh on the beam and ninth on the vault.

Also taking part in the NDSS Invitational were members of the Centennial Secondary School, St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School, Lindsay Collegiate Vocational Institute, Centre Hastings Secondary School. Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School, St. Joseph’s and Manitoulin Secondary School club teams. The event served as an opportunity for the athletes to get ready for OFSAA.
