A go fund me has been set up for the owners of J&J Farms in Newburgh, who lost a barn during a massive fire on Thursday evening.

Several animals were lost in the fire, which caused an estimated $600,000 in damage. The farm is used as a horse boarding facility and houses upwards of 30 horses. The go fund me aims to raise money for a generator, fencing and water for the horses.

The go fund me, which can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/jj-farms-help-for-the-horses?utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link_all&utm_source=customer, was launched by Kate Wright, who boarded her horse at the farm. she wrote the following:

“This barn wasn’t just for the animals but it was a space where our “Barn Family” came to set up trail rides, hang out with one another and also be there for one another in times of need. In this case it is the wonderful owners of this farm and barn that need us to be there for them as this is their time of need.
James and Jennifer Leadbeater are two of the most wonderful, hardworking, kind and loveable people you will ever meet and I know there are dozens who agree with me. They work tirelessly day in and day out to make sure our horses are safe and well taken care of.
The main point of this go fund me is to raise money to help with feeding and taking care of our horses while they no longer have a barn to retreat to. 200-300 bales of hay were lost and dozens of bags of grain as well as bird food which will be needed for the remaining birds that did survive.
This money raised will be going directly to the horses. We have received a lot of support from the community so far but we still have a long way to go. Anything you can offer is greatly appreciated and all the girl’s at J&J Farms want to thank you in advance.
Please help us help our horses and of course, James and Jenn.
Thank you”
