Four charged following armed robbery

One man and three teenagers are facing multiple charges following an incident this past weekend.

At 1:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, Tyendinaga Police Service and the Napanee OPP responded to a 911 call regarding an alleged armed robbery on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. The business, located on Highway 2, is open 24 hours a day.

According to police, two male suspects entered the store wearing masks and brandishing weapons. They took cigarettes, fireworks and cash. The males fled on foot and disappeared into the darkness. Investigation later revealed the suspects left the scene in a silver sport utility vehicle.

The following night, OPP officers were dispatched to a disturbance call in Picton. The officers responding recognized the man involved as the wanted party in the armed robbery. The 23-year-old Quinte West man was charged with robbery using a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a probation order.

Three other males alleged to have been involved in the incident are 15 and 16 years of age. Two of them have been arrested while the third remains at-large. They face the following charges: robbery using a firearm, robbery using a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The 23-year-old man and one of the youths were scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in Belleville today.
