Firefighters from across Canada and the U.S. are battling the sweltering heat to compete in the 2018 Regional FireFit Championships, going on this weekend at the Napanee Fairgrounds.

The times event sees competitors in full bunker gear race up 60 stairs, pull a rope up a tower, run down the stairs, hammer a Keiser, drag a hose, shoot a target with water and then drag a 175 pound dummy named Rescue Randy 100 feet to the finish line.

Individual runs will continue throughout today with the relay event set for tomorrow. The top times from this weekend will qualify for nationals, which will be held in Calgary.
