Wanting to honour his memory, Jordan Cowdy’s friends and co-workers decided to incorporate his love of animals.

Following his passing on May 2, the team at Napanee’s downtown Tim Horton’s donated $487.50 to the OSPCA Lennox and Addington Animal Shelter.

“Long before Jordan was born, his grandmother was an animal lover, both of his parents were animal trainers with a house was full of pets – three dogs, five cats and a pet crow,” his family wrote. “When Jordan was born, his parents owned a pet shop where Jordan spent his early days, fostering his deep lifelong love of animals. Jordan’s coffee cup reads “I love my spoiled rotten cat” and Tig knew this to be true!

All bugs had to carefully caught and let go outside – Jordan only killed bugs that were actually biting him-hard. Jordan was laid to rest with the ashes of his childhood dog and cat – Zander and Yulie by his side, just as he would have wished. One time a stray dog crossed Jordan’s path – he cared for it, called Animal Control and when they came to pick up the dog, he told them that if no owner was found, then Jordan would take the dog in rather than see it destroyed. It’s just how he rolled.

They didn’t call him J-dog for nothing!”

The donation will go towards keeping the shelter running and cover costs that aren’t recovered from adoption fees such as spay/neuter or vet visits.

“The team at the Lennox & Addington Ontario SPCA were touched by the donation from Jordan’s friends and coworkers, as well as about the story of Jordan’s love for animals,” said Esther McCutcheon, manager of the Lennox and Addington Animal Centre. “We operate solely on the donations of people who want to see better lives for our beloved animals, people that see animals the way that Jordan did. This was a wonderful tribute in Jordan’s memory. We offer our condolences to Jordan’s loved ones and sincerely hope he rests easy with his dear pets by his side.”
