Riley Manion was able to pitch out of a jam in the seventh, leaving the tying run stranded at third to pitch the Napanee AFW Express to a 6-5 win over Newfoundland’s Chayee Bourras Selects.

Jordan Pomeroy had led off the inning with a double but Manion was able to record three straight outs, only allowing him to advance 60 feet.

Napanee was cruising for most of the game, holding a 6-0 lead into the sixth when the Selects erupted for five runs.

The win was a nice bounce back for the Express, who dropped their first game of the tournament last night, losing 14-2 to Saskatchewan’s Delisle Poly Plus Pride.

Now at 6-1, the host team will close out the first round this evening against Team B.C. at 6 p.m. They’ll be aiming for the top seed ahead of the playoff round, which begins tomorrow.
