Mixed media artist and Erinsville resident Barry Lovegrove will be displaying selections of his photography and paintings in the corridor at the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital for the next several weeks.

Both mediums will focus on landscapes and wildlife found in the Tamworth and Napanee area, from colourful autumn scenes to watercolour paintings of old farmsteads.

“I often stop and look around at Mother Nature’s natural beauty,” he said. “ I love to watch the skies change color as the sun sets, and the way clouds change and form themselves into different shapes. I also love to see fences diminish into the distance and the way hills fade in color as they merge into the horizon. I see the strength of trees both in character and subtle frailties as they change and shed their leaves through the seasons”.

His artwork, which can be found throughout Canada and Europe, has earned him plenty of recognition over the years. In 2018 he was awarded the Town of Greater Napanee Arts and Culture Award for established artist of the year.

His collection currently on display at the hospital, which can be found in the corridor that stretches from the main entrance to the Emergency Room, is also for sale. Portions of all his sales will be given back to the hospital.

Always willing to discuss his work, he says anyone who wants to meet him at LACGH for some background on any of his displayed work can reach out to him at 613-379-3003.

Born just outside of London, England in a small village called Heston, he moved to Canada in 1965. When not working on his art, he can be found on stage with his guitar at various community events throughout Lennox and Addington.

His display is part of an ongoing program at LACGH, which donates space for local artists to display and sell their work.
