After making the difficult decision to close its door and sell its church, Empey Hill United Church used a portion of those funds to donate $25,000 to Lennox and Addington County General Hospital.

In February members of the church: Linda Stapley, trustee, Margarete Winter, secretary, Rev. Mike Putnam, minister of the pastoral charge and Brian Chadwick, treasurer, delivered the cheque to members of the LACGH Foundation.

Members of the congregation expressed a strong desire to provide the hospital with a gift following the sale of the 109-year-old church on Empey Hill. The members have since found a new home at Selby United Church.

Along with donating to the hospital, the members of the church have also opted to donate $25,000 to the United Church of Canada’s Indigenous Ministry and another $25,000 to their Mission and Service Programs throughout Canada and the world.
