The Easter Bunny will be hopping into Erinsville’s Beaver Lake Lion’s Park on March 27 from 1-3 p.m. for photos and to hand out some treats.

Hosted by the Tamworth and District Lions Club, the outdoor event will be run much the same way as the well-attended Mr. and Mrs. Claus visit last December. Families will drive around the parking lot and wait in their car until it’s their turn to stand near the Easter Bunny, who will be seated in front of a colourful Easter backdrop. They will then get out of the car for a COVID safe picture. The event is free, though non-perishable food items will be accepted for the local food bank, as will used prescription eye glasses and hearing aids.

Though a bit different than previous years, the outdoor setup allows for kids to safely visit with the Easter Bunny.

“We’re going to run it very similar to the Santa event, with some small changes,” explains Lisa Stienburg of the Tamworth and District Lions Club. “This time we’re having a couple of Lions that will be right at the entrance offering hot chocolate and chips so that if families do have to sit in their car for 15 or 20 minutes, it’s a special little treat for the kids to have while they’re waiting for the Easter Bunny.”

An Easter Bunny trail will be set up along the parking lot for the kids to look for as they get closer to the guest of honour.

As with previous years, the Tamworth and District Lions Club is also running an Easter themed colouring contest, though this time with a bit of a twist.

“Because of COVID, not all children have access to a printer so we’re leaving it wide open,” said Stienburg, “Kids can colour a picture from an Easter colouring book if they have it or they can draw their own Easter picture and colour it or maybe their parents do have access to a printer and they want to print it off from the internet and colour it or paint, whatever they like.”

Kids can bring their coloured photo with them when they meet the Easter Bunny, or they can email it at anytime to TamworthLionsClub@hotmail.com. There are 10 prizes up for grabs to be divided among different age groups. The Lions Club will select the winners on March 28 and the Easter basket prizes will be delivered to the winners’ home.

The first 10 infants to visit the Easter Bunny will be given a special surprise in lieu of candy. The event is rain or shine, though it will be moved to a covered part of the park in the event of rain.
Beaver Lake Park is located at 5771 County Road 41 in Erinsville.
Easter falls on April 4 this year.
