DUNLOP, Emmerson D’Arcy

DUNLOP, Emmerson D’Arcy

Passed away at peace on March 25, 2023 after a brief illness at Lennox and Addington County General Hospital. He was in his 88th year. Emmerson is survived by his wife of 67 years, Donna (nee Hawkins) along with his children, Debbie (Glenn), Mona (Mike), Kelly (Mark) and Dennis (Sam). He was blessed with five grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his mom and dad, Bill and Berdina and brothers Murray and Orval and survived by sister Judy of Kitchener.
Emmerson lived a full life surrounded by family and friends. After a 26 year career with Ontario Hydro, he worked another 7 years on contract and retired for good in 1995. He continued to enjoy his many hobbies and talents that included hunting, fishing, buying fur and leather and tending to his hobby farm and garden. He had a music room where you could hear him playing one of many instruments, be it his fiddle, banjo, guitar or mandolin. His hobbies carried over at “E. D. Dunlop Raw and Dressed Furs”, an outdoorsman sporting goods shop he operated in Napanee for 20 years. Emmerson and Donna enjoyed many long road trips together from New Mexico to Yukon to Newfoundland and Labrador. When the long road trips were no longer, it was Sunday drives and regular Bingos throughout the week, as well as live music or dances whenever possible. Emmerson was a kind, smart, yet quiet man. He was loved and remembered by all that were fortunate enough to have crossed his path. Rest peacefully Em, Dad, Papa. You will be in our hearts forever.
We would like to especially thank the staff at Lennox and Addington Country General Hospital for the kind and compassionate care over the past seven weeks.
