Drug charges laid during traffic stop in Loyalist

Two individuals have been charged with drug offences as the result of a traffic stop.

On Dec. 19, 2023 shortly after 4 a.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington  OPP conducted a traffic stop of two vehicles on Bath Road in Loyalist Township. One vehicle appeared to attempt to leave but got stuck in a guardrail.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of quantities of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine, cell phones and Canadian currency. With the assistance of the East Region Community Street Crime Unit, two individuals were arrested and charged.

A 31-year-old from Loyalist Township and a 29-year-old from Greater Napanee were charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

The 31-year-old was further charged with use plate not authorized for vehicle and operate motor vehicle without insurance. The 29-year-old was further charged with dangerous operation.

Both individuals were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on Feb. 13, 2024.
