Driver charged with impaired after crashing into guardrail and hydro pole

Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a driver with impaired driving.

On Feb. 6, shortly after 1 a.m., officers from the L&A County OPP were dispatched to a call for service in regards to a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Marysville Road and Waddingham Road, in Tyendinaga Township, Hastings County. The complainant was reporting that a vehicle had run the stop sign at the intersection and had crashed into a guardrail and hydro pole. The lone male driver appeared to be intoxicated.

When Police arrived on scene the driver of the vehicle had already departed. The driver of the vehicle was located at his residence a short time later. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported back to the detachment for further testing. There were no injuries sustained during the collision, just damage to the vehicle.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Alan Baker, age 46, of Tyendinaga Township, with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Feb. 27, 2024. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
