Lennox and Addington County’s popular Discover L&A Bike Ride is set to return for its fifth year Sept. 25.
After a brief pause last year due to the pandemic, tickets are now on sale for the 58 km scenic bike tour through the county’s rural routes this coming autumn.
“The format for the ride is basically the same as in previous years, but we’re always looking to improve,” said Rob Plumley, economic development officer with L&A County. “We get a lot of return riders participating so that’s a good sign that we’re on the right track. We’ve added a couple new rest stops and we will have some new local food items available at the stops that we think riders will really enjoy.”
Departing from Bath’s MacKinnon Brewery at 10 a.m., the ride will include stops at The Hive & Hearthstone, Bergeron Estates, 33 Vines and the Old Hay Bay Church, before returning to the brewery. Rest stop will include live music from local musicians.
“We have a great 58 km route that really showcases some of the great road cycling opportunities we have here in Lennox & Addington,” said Plumley. “There are also some fun rest stops that feature historic sites, apiaries, wineries and parklands. The unique thing about our ride is that it’s just as much about the stops along the way as it is about the actual cycling. We have some really unique stops that highlight local products available. Participants seem to really appreciate that.”
Previous rides have seen upwards of 400 cyclists from across Ontario and Quebec take part.
Tickets, which are $35, can be purchased at https://naturallyla.ca/explore/cycling/discover-la-ride/. While there’s currently no cap on the amount of tickets that can be sold, the ride will be subject to whatever Public Health rules are in place for September. Cyclists are encouraged to buy their tickets early to ensure they will have a spot.
